Research, Review and Testimony as a Child Care Advocate
I put my 13 years of experience in child care licensing to work for other advocates by findng, researching and reviewing child care information that they can use to influence legislators to pass laws to ensure the health, safety and well-being of children in licensed care.

I have testified, and I will continue to testify, before legislative committees in order to give children and parents a voice in the government. The legislature has bent to the pressure of paid lobbyists who represent the interests of licensed providers, state employee and provider unions, child care associations and Advocates for Provider Rights and Education (APRE).

Parents don't have the monied support that these other interests have. Former licensors, organizations such as Washington Parents for Safe Child Care (WPSCC), and parent advocates who have lost children testify with t heir hearts and speak up in prayer that a higher conscience will prevail when the final votes are taken. Teaching and Presentations
I put my 10 years of experience in working in DSHS as a child protective social worker and my 13 years experience as a child care licensor to work by giving workshops to current providers.

I am also available to make presentations to parent groups and other organizations about the agency, the Department of Early Learning, that is charged with licensing child care center facilities and family home child care providers.

I am available to assist child care resource and referral agencies to improve their services and the quality of the information they give to parents.

The Department of Early Learning
I am available to assist child care licensing in the Department of Early Learning. With my 13 years of child care licensing experience and stellar record in taking legal actions to protect children I can train licensing staff in how to do professional, complete and proper investigations.

I can train licensing staff how to conduct and process background information to do character, competence and suitability assessments on applicants, child care staff and others associated with a home or center.

I can train licensing staff how to conduct licensng inspections of family child care homes.

I can train staff how to teach the orientation classes that applicants are required to attend prior to submitting their applications.

I can create forms and processes that meet the test of law that the agency is required to be efficient, effective and economical in its work. I can create forms and processes that benefit the child, the provider and licensing staff (that includes managers). In my previous work with DSHS I won kudos and acclaim for my ability to analyze, synthesize, to think critically through steps that were needed to produce a stellar work product. This work involved not only creativity but fun (which is the best way for creativity to bloom).
